A new challenge.

I recently joined a Zoom workshop hosted by Roger Dellar and tried something which I had never attempted before, or had even thought of trying before. This was to paint a picture using only 3 ready mixed secondary colours: orange, purple and viridian. Our tutor wanted us to use ready mixed colours to reduce the variation created by mixing from primary colours. The reference was a photo of two cats sheltering from the hot midday sun in the cool shade. Cats always seem to know exactly where to settle to maximise comfort! The patterns created by light and shadow crossed the whole image almost camouflaging the cats and patio furniture to the extent that one cat was hard to see. A very enjoyable and exciting painting experience which I will definitely be repeating.
