Landscape painting in acrylics
For my acrylic painting I used Cobalt Blue, Caerulean and White to paint the sky. French Ultramarine, Caerulean, Cobalt Blue, Hooker’s Green and Phthalo Turquoise were used for the waves and troughs of the incoming tide and to reflect the ever changing colours of the sea.
A pale purple mix of French Ultramarine, Crimson and White was used for the shadows of the foam. White paint was used to depict the foam nets created by the waves and, in addition, it was spattered and smudged to give the effect of spume against rock.
Sparkles on the water were added selectively with White slightly stained with Lemon Yellow. Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre and Pale Olive Green were used to paint the rocks of the wave cut platform with a mixture of French Ultramarine and Burnt Umber for the darkest shadows. A spattering of these colours added the impression of sand or gravel on the rocks.
